Airports

We introduce airports that are buying runway and taxiway work to the paving contractors that want to bid, and charge the contractor a fixed fee for the introduction.

We have served clients in this market.

Case study
An Illinois airport open to more bidders, and the paving contractor that fitClosed$8,600 introduction, paid by the contractor

A small Illinois municipal airport open to additional paving bidders, with two requirements, and a paving contractor that had just lost an airport project and wanted its next one.

How the market works
Demand side

Airports with upcoming runway, taxiway and paving work, with the person who runs each one and an inbox on every row. Many are small municipal airports run by a city.

Supply side

Paving and airfield contractors, including those that have just lost an airport project and want the next one.

Runways crack, and repairing them is the most expensive job an airport faces. Federal money pays for much of it, so an airport has to take bids for the work, and a tiny airport still has real problems and a real budget. The person attached to it is often a mayor with an ordinary email address.

A paving contractor that has just lost an airport project wants another airport more than any other buyer. A single airport contract is worth about $1.2 million and a contractor keeps roughly 11–16 cents of every dollar, so one airport is worth $130,000–$195,000 in margin. That is what the introduction is priced against.

How we work it
01
Find the airport that has told us it is open to more bidders, and what it requires
02
Find the contractor that meets those requirements and wants the work
03
Check the contractor against the airport’s requirements before anything is sent
04
Charge the contractor for access, make the introduction by email with the full context, then step back
Fee

$8,600 from the paving contractor for a qualified airport introduction, paid up front. The airport pays nothing. If the airport materially does not match what was described, the introduction is replaced.
